Statement by C40 Chair on wildfires in Australia and floods in Jakarta

“What we are dealing with across the world is moving beyond climate change to climate changed. The wildfires in Australia and floods in Jakarta are deadly reminders that the crisis isn’t an abstract debate — it’s a current event that threatens our air, our water, our economies, and our very survival. 

“We are seeing the devastating costs of inaction in real-time. Our hearts break over the loss of life, homes, wildlife, and natural resources — and that grief has to strengthen our resolve to do everything possible to spare future generations from extinction-level catastrophes.”
