Request for Proposals (RFP) to host 2016 C40 Cities Mayors Summit
Thank you for your interest in the 2016 Summit. The Request for Proposals period is now closed. The announcement below is for archival purposes only.
The C40 Summit is a biennial meeting of C40’s members, serving as a forum for member cities to demonstrate their actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve climate resilience; to showcase projects and initiatives as lessons for the future; to foster dialogue among members and share learnings; and to help define an agenda for C40 Cities.
The most recent summit was attended by 52 C40 Cities, 18 mayors and 650 guests, including urban leaders, technical and sustainability experts, senior officials and local and international Media. The event took place under the theme: ‘Towards Resilient and Liveable Megacities – Demonstrating Action, Impact and Opportunity’.
The 2014 summit was a first on a number of counts: the first C40 summit to be hosted in the African continent; the first summit to be led by a Chair from the southern hemisphere; and the first summit to be attended by representatives from the United Nations (UN), which presented an opportunity for C40 to shape the global climate change agenda and promote the 2015 adoption of an urban Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) by the UN.
Building on the success of this event, C40 is seeking proposals from member Megacities and Innovator cities interested in hosting the 2016 Summit and continuing to build an ambitious event that serves the aims of the organization.
