Summit for Mayors to be held in Copenhagen
Event to take place in parallel to UN Climate Change Conference (COP15)

What
Mayors from more than 55 cities around the world will gather in Copenhagen for the ‘Climate Summit for Mayors’, which is being held alongside the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15) in December.
Who
The summit will be attended by: Governor Bowo - Jakarta, Mayor Masondo - Johannesburg, Mayor Miller- Toronto, Mayor Macri - Buenos Aires, Mayor Moore, Sydney - Mayor Villiagrosa, Los Angeles; Mayor Johnson, London - to mention a few.
Speakers at the opening press conference on Tuesday 15 December will include:
C40 Mayors: including Mayor Villiagrosa, Los Angeles; Mayor Johnson, London.
When
Tuesday 15 December:
Opening ceremony and press conference – exact time TBC.
Panel discussion on city actions.
Wednesday 16 December:
Speeches* by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Angel Gurria, Secretary-General of OECD.
Panel discussion on innovative partnerships between cities and private partners will be presented.
Electric vehicle demonstrations.
Mayors address COP15 at the COP15 Venue

Why
Cities are one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Half the world's population now live in cities and the number is growing rapidly. Cities therefore play a crucial role in addressing the climate crisis.
The Climate Summit for Mayors is being hosted by the City of Copenhagen, in cooperation with the C40 and ICLEI.
