(New York, NY) – December 4, 2012 - C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) today announced the expansion of membership to include four additional cities from around the world – Oslo, Vancouver, Venice, and Washington, DC – bringing the total number of current C40 members to 63.
“Cities are leading by example when it comes to climate change, and these local actions are having a global impact,” said C40 Chair, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. “The four new members that are joining us today have demonstrated their commitment to addressing climate change, and we are excited to welcome them into our global network. Together, we will continue making a real difference in the future of our world.”

NEW YORK, NY (October 3, 2012) – Today, the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) announced three newly defined categories of membership for the network.
"Cities are the centers of action around the world. They are continuing to make more progress in combating climate change than any other level of government and as our organization continues to grow in size and stature, the time has come to provide clear definitions around membership requirements, services and benefits to ensure the transparency of our processes," said C40 Chairman and New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. "Coupled with existing participation standards, these new categories clarify C40 membership classification and set the appropriate expectations for cities that want to join C40."

C40 Chair New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes will host mayors from the world’s largest cities – the C40 Cities – for the Rio + C40: Megacity Mayors Taking Action on Climate Change event, taking place in conjunction with the Rio+20 conference on sustainable development.
The day-long event will bring together global city leaders and technical experts to discuss how cities are taking meaningful action to mitigate and adapt to climate change, and will encourage a greater commitment toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating sustainable communities.
Mayors or senior level officials from more than 35 cities, including the following cities are expected to attend.

In an effort to make Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing more widely available and accessible, a multi-jurisdictional Commercial Clean Energy Financing Alliance (Alliance) has been launched, bringing together leaders and experts at the forefront of PACE financing programs to share knowledge, skills and tools with interested communities in California. A partnership of the C40-Clinton Climate Initiative, San Francisco, Los Angeles County, the California Statewide Communities Development Authority, and the Florida Green Finance Authority, the Alliance marks a major step forward in the green building movement.
