Workshop Format and Agenda

The event will comprise of a three-day workshop to be held at City Hall in London on 22-24 March 2010.  Details are as follows:

22 March: Opening Plenary Session including an address from the Mayor of London and the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.  This will be followed by a series of workshop presentations and panel discussions throughout the day, focusing on three core topic areas: exploring the concept of zero waste, social-economic issues in recycling and low-carbon waste collection and transportation. 

An evening reception will follow after the main workshop sessions.  This will encourage and facilitate networking and sharing of best practice between participants.  There will also be an opportunity to meet industry sponsors of the workshop, including the London Waste and Recycling Board, a pioneering funding body enabling delivery of waste infrastructure projects in London.

23 March: Opening keynote speech focusing on material and energy resource streams that can be obtained from waste.  This will be followed by workshop presentations and panel discussions on waste treatment technologies and funding mechanism available to finance implementation of sustainable waste management solutions. 

24 March: Site visits for delegates to see first hand the waste management technologies being implemented, and under development, here in London.  For further information and details of how to register for your preferred option, please see site vist

This event is by invitation only to participating and affiliate cities of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.  Places are limited during the initial registration period up to 29 January to ensure that all cities have a chance to register at the workshop.
